Many of us naturally are drawn to travel, experiencing cultures, learning languages, tasting exotic foods and learning new procedures.

 

While all of these things are amazing and exciting and worth experiencing, we challenge each doctor getting involved internationally to explore what is driving them to serve.  It is through this process that one gains the most out of a new experience.

For instance, if one purpose is to learn manual small incision cataract surgery, one should explore the places best setup for teaching this procedure.  Will there be appropriate supervision or direction during this experience?  What preparation is needed before heading out?  Is phaco more appropriate and should be done instead in certain cases?
